Experts Will Discuss California’s Five-Year Initiative to Improve Health Outcomes
The UCLA Fielding School of Public Health and Center for Healthcare Management at UCLA are hosting a forum this evening titled Housing and Health Care: CalAIM’s Funding Opportunity for Health Care and Affordable Housing Providers. The forum will consist of a panel discussion on California’s five-year initiative to improve the quality of life and the health outcomes of Medi-Cal beneficiaries. John Baackes, CEO of L.A. Care Health Plan, the largest Medi-Cal provider in Los Angeles County, is among the expert panelists.
Under CalAIM, Medi-Cal members have access to new standardized and equitable services that go beyond clinical care and address social needs. Among the new services being provided are a variety of housing supports. Baackes will share L.A. Care’s success in delivering the various forms of housing support since the launch of CalAIM in January of last year. The health plan has served more than 15,000 members through housing navigation, tenancy support services, and housing deposits to date.
Other panelists include:
Mark Costa, Board Member, Illumination Foundation
Michelle Gaskill-Hames, President, Southern California and Hawaii Regions, Kaiser Permanente
